Live with Yoga Sutra - Atha Yoganusasanam

Yoga Sutra is part of my TTC subject that i have to study. It was not an easy chapter to digest as it was written in Sanskrit. However, i was also told to live with Yoga Sutra by my teacher rather than memories it for the sake of passing my assessment.

After going through a few times of the sutra of chapter 1, which is Samadhipadah (The state of union ), i found it interesting and it applies nicely to my daily life if i learn to live with it. I will learn at least one a day and introduce in this blog and share my thoughts on my learning . I am not able to explain the history of yoga sutra here as i am not mastering it , but i guess, at least know them is good enough for trainee teachers or yoga practitioners. It will be good as we can think through it to understand these sutra better.

1. Atha Yoganusasanam : Now we begins the practice of yoga

Now , it is the time to start practicing yoga or it begins now , at this time after letting go whatever that holds us back of practicing yoga. It also means that we are prepare to dedicate our self towards the path of finding our true self or self realization through yoga.

I have been joining yoga classes few years back when i first started to work where the fitness center is just next to my office building. I attended yoga class on and off , taking it as a form of exercise to loose some fats which i have been carrying with me. I have never take it so seriously and never felt the way i am feeling now. It was an on and off kind of exercise i take up just to move my lazy butt off the crouch.

I will define that my yoga journey has just started now , here at this time when i have prepared my self for at least 1 -2 years of consistent practicing yoga before i join TTC on August 2009. You might be wondering why am i defining that my journey of yoga begins now but not years back? Because , years back was just a preparation of work done towards today's practice and self realization. I have to prepare myself for a better body to practice my daily yoga as u might know i was carrying extra weight on my body, i prepare myself in terms of having peaceful mind and dedicate myself to yoga rather than just performing the asanas on the mat and show off the ego by doing some freaking posture.

Here, at this moment of life , i am beginning my yoga practice with a peaceful mind towards finding my true self and self realization. Finding a space in me that makes me a better person and a living a happier life without asking for more of what i have got now.
