Anatomy for Yoga

( Picture 1 >  The skeletal system )

It is important for a yoga teacher to understand the anatomy of the human body in order to teach the student safely. Many of us are not aware of how our body works when performing an asana.

During my TTC ,   the skeletal system and muscular system was one of the syllabus which i  think it is useful not only for a better understanding of our own body , it also help in my own practising of asana with more awareness.

For yoga practinioners , it is more important to understand the muscle that each asana is working on rather than memorising the names of the muscle and the bones.

For a better understanding , i have divided our human body to work on in few parts :
1. Back (  Trapezius , Lattissimus dorsi , Rhomboids , Levator scapulae )
2. Lower region ( Hips , pelvis , hamstring , Quadriceps , Calves )
3. Front Region ( Pectoralis major - chest , Abdominals , Hips abductors and adductors , rotators )
4. Arms ( Triceps , Biceps , Deltoids , Teres )
